Harold J. Foster

Harold J. Foster

Growing up in a housing project near Corpus Christi, Harold Foster dreamed of a better life. When he graduated from high school, it seemed that new opportunities were in reach. A talented trombone player, Harold had scholarship offers to study music and biology. He attended Texas A&I in Kingsville, TX and later joined the Marine Corps.

When a motorcycle accident in 2002 caused multiple injuries, Harold spiraled downward physically and emotionally. The trauma of having eight surgeries, domestic abuse by his caretakers and growing dependence on pain medication led Harold to drug addiction and ultimately homelessness.

When SEARCH’s Mobile Outreach crew found Harold in 2005, they provided him with the food, shelter, healthcare and counseling he desperately needed. Harold learned he had been clinically depressed for years and worked with several case managers to get his life back on track.

Today Harold enjoys reading and listening to to a variety of music. He is happy again, working and proudly back on his feet.
