Page Photo - Council of CongregationsSEARCH was founded in 1989 as a faith-based nonprofit organization, supported by a small Council of Congregations.

Today, the Council of Congregations has grown to include more than 30 organizations of multiple faiths across Houston and Harris County. They are committed to supporting SEARCH Homeless Services and its mission by providing spiritual guidance, volunteers, in-kind resources, and opportunities for people in need.

We welcome the participation of your faith community to empower individuals to focus beyond mere survival while working toward a happy, healthy, and independent life.

Here are some ways to get involved:

  • Adopt a housing site to provide weekly or monthly and interactive faith based or skill based activities/programs for clients
  • Daily, weekly, or monthly chapel assistance
  • Contact a SEARCH staff member to speak to your congregation and/or attend your fairs, expos, or symposiums for volunteer partnerships
  • Donate basic needs such as non-perishable items, survival kits, and clothing to our Resource Center
  • Schedule weekly or monthly sack lunch preparation and delivery

We look forward to the involvement of your faith community!
