Page Photo - Council of CongregationsSEARCH was founded in 1989 as a faith-based nonprofit organization, supported by a small Council of Congregations.

Today, the Council of Congregations has grown to include more than 30 organizations of multiple faiths across Houston and Harris County. They are committed to supporting SEARCH Homeless Services and its mission by providing spiritual guidance, volunteers, in-kind resources, and opportunities for people in need.

We welcome the participation of your faith community. Here are a few ways to get involved:

  • Collect and donate diapers for our clients with small children. Diapers needed the most are sizes 2-3.
  • Confirm a date for a SEARCH staff member to speak to your congregation and/or attend your mission fair.
  • Donate canned food items or bottled water for our food pantry.
  • Volunteer to help prepare breakfast and lunch in SEARCH’s Resource Center.

For additional information, please contact Alexis Shiber at 713-276-3031 or info@searchhomeless.org.
