Every year in October, cities across the globe observe World Homeless Day. Its purpose is to draw attention to the needs of people experiencing homelessness and provide opportunities for communities to get involved in responding to this urgent humanitarian issue.
This year, World Homeless Weekend will be held on
October 13 – 15, 2023

Your faith community can:
- Take a special offering to donate to agencies working with people experiencing homelessness.
- Support Housing Wish List
- Support Outreach Wish List
- Make “snack packs” (see instructions) to hand out to people on the streets
- Offer a specific prayer during worship services
- Share our “How To Talk To Your Children About Homelessness” guide with families
- Invite a speaker from a local service agency to educate the community on homelessness in Houston
- Print and distribute an updated “Facts & Figures” brochure on homelessness or share other information about homelessness with your congregation
- Commit to volunteering at a homeless services agency. Please note that SEARCH is closed to onsite volunteers on weekends, but we encourage you to collaborate with our partners!
SEARCH is happy to provide information, materials, and/or ideas to help facilitate this process. Please let us know how we can support your commitment. You can contact Phoenix Johnson at pjohnson@searchhomeless.org.
A Storytelling Event in Honor of World Homeless day

With many faith communities joining in a simultaneous effort, you can make an enormous collective impact. Because of the commitment of the 100+ partners of The Way Home working to solve homelessness in Harris, Fort Bend, and Montgomery counties, we are expanding the concept to World Homeless Weekend and we hope you will join us
