SEARCH’s Outreach Team Brings Hope This Holiday!

“It’s good to see a glimmer of hope in our clients’ eyes when we approach them on the street. They know SEARCH well and that we can help.”

Whether they are on their bikes or in our green van, Jess DiManno and James Gonzalez, meet our clients throughout Houston, from the suburbs to the city. Outreach is the most important step to encouraging clients to come to the Fannin building for critical, initial support. We talk with men and women, face to face, hear their needs and help them take the very first steps from moving off the streets to a more safe place.
Identification is often the clients’ most immediate need. Without it, they can’t get into a hotel, apply for food stamps or a Gold Card for health services.

For people who are not quite ready to come to SEARCH, SEARCH provides blankets, gloves, hats, scarves and other necessary items.“Our family would not have stayed together without the help of the House of Tiny Treasures. My wife and I now understand the importance of encouraging our children to focus on learning every day. We are so grateful to the staff and volunteers.“

If you would like to learn more about Mobile Outreach or volunteer to ride on the van, contact bhaney@searchhomeless.org.
