Putting people back to work is a signature goal of SEARCH in helping individuals who are homeless become independent.
SEARCH offers job readiness, skills training, employment placement assistance and case management to more than 500 individuals each year. In addition to educational programs, clients work closely with a case manager/employment counselor to make their job search and employment successful. Participants receive supplemental resources necessary to obtain employment, including work clothes, basic tools, bus tokens, meals, access to computers, telephones, voicemail and more.
SEARCH staff members teach participants how to conduct a job search, develop a resume, enhance interview skills and increase awareness of real-life employment issues. Weekly job club meetings are held to provide peer support and continued coaching. Even after clients obtain employment, these weekly meetings help improve their chances for job success.
